Overview

Aromatic Ashes is a concept for a visionary vegan candle and incense brand based in Seattle, Washington, dedicated to eco-conscious consumers seeking beauty and sustainability in their homes. Despite strong name recognition, the brand risked fading from relevance with its core audience, causing a daring reimagining. My goal was to create a striking new brand and visual identity that radiates innovation while honoring the company’s organic roots.

I designed the Aromatic Ashes logo to embody the brand’s commitment to botanical purity and eco-conscious living. The leaf within a candle flame highlights premium plant-based ingredients, symbolizing natural, sustainable luxury. Paired with a memorable slogan, the logo positions Aromatic Ashes as a leader in vegan home fragrance—inviting customers to embrace beauty, sustainability, and mindful living.

Color Palette Creation

For the main logo, I picked lively reds, oranges, and purples to reflect the heat, energy, and appeal of a glowing candle flame. I added creamy yellow and warm stone tones to balance the palette, bringing harmony and a hint of elegance. Together, these colors make Aromatic Ashes stand out and accentuate its focus on botanical purity, eco-friendly luxury, and sensory enjoyment.

Choosing Garamond Premier Pro and Forma DJR Micro as Aromatic Ashes’ typefaces blends timeless elegance with modern appeal. Garamond Premier Pro adds sophistication and a sense of heritage, while Forma DJR Micro’s clean lines convey freshness and approachability. Together, they showcase Aromatic Ashes as both luxurious and innovative in the vegan, eco-conscious home fragrance market.

For Aromatic Ashes’ candle packaging, I used simple, eco-inspired designs—clear labels and warm beige boxes—to let the colorful wax and bold logo shine. The incense packaging continues this sustainable approach with biodegradable, recycled cardboard tubes and distinct label colors, along with vibrant botanical illustrations that vary by variety. Together, these packaging designs reinforce Aromatic Ashes’ image as a leader in vegan, eco-friendly home fragrance, uniting botanical beauty, sustainability, and luxurious, mindful living into a single clear brand identity.
