Overview

Seaside Stoneware is a concept for an innovative ceramics shop in the lively core of Brighton, UK, serving pottery lovers of all ages. The business was struggling to establish its place in the local community, so the owner sought a complete overhaul of its brand and visual identity. My goal was to create a brand and visual identity that positions the shop as creative and sophisticated, while retaining the character of the local Brighton community.

The services I offered were:

  • Logo development

  • Color palette creation

  • Typography formation

  • Marketing collateral conception

  • Social media strategy

  • Website design development

  • Signage creation

Logo Development

When designing Seaside Stoneware’s logo, I created a pottery jug with a wave-shaped cutout, drawing inspiration from the rugged Brighton coastline. This gives the brand a clear coastal identity, combining the calm beauty of the sea with the genuine feel of handmade ceramics, while the jug’s slight asymmetry and soft blue hues highlight Seaside Stoneware’s creative energy and craftsmanship. Overall, the logo gives off a warm, coastal vibe and reinforces a strong brand identity rooted in nature and skilled artistry.

Color Palette Creation

For Seaside Stoneware’s color palette, I drew from the Brighton coastline—using tranquil ocean blues and soft sandy neutrals to evoke the peace and warmth of the sea and shore. These natural tones highlight the handmade, unique quality of the ceramics, making each piece feel authentically coastal. The palette reinforces Seaside Stoneware’s brand as a creative, calming destination rooted in true craftsmanship and coastal inspiration.

Choosing Hypatia Sans Pro and Canto strengthens Seaside Stoneware’s warm, artisanal brand image. Hypatia Sans Pro’s clean lines give clarity and invitingness, while Canto’s handcrafted feel reflects the creative, unique spirit of the ceramics. Together, they convey authenticity, quality, and the hospitable charm of a coastal artisan studio.

Marketing Collateral Conception

I designed the print ad for Seaside Stoneware to visually capture the journey from raw clay to finished pottery, using bold imagery and dynamic layout to showcase the studio’s artistry and passion. The ad highlights both the unique pieces and the artisans' dedication, inviting viewers to connect with the brand’s creative spirit. Paired with an inviting brochure featuring the studio’s welcoming atmosphere and diverse classes, these materials strengthen Seaside Stoneware’s image as a hub of creativity, community, and authentic craftsmanship.

Social Media Strategy

Seaside Stoneware uses social media to connect with Brighton’s ceramics community on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Through engaging visuals and stories, the brand connects with passionate pottery fans and builds a trustworthy, recognizable presence as a leader in creative ceramics. This approach fosters trust and loyalty among its tight-knit, artistic community.
